Goodbye

It's time to move on
He said no
And now he's left

It's time to move on
To stop crying
And start smiling
Even as I wait anxiously
For an email or text

It's time to start dancing again
Time for dating
For joy, fun, and laughter

I release my ties to him
And feel a sense of freedom as I do so
I take all that I've learnt from him
And move forward
With my life.

    The message of this poem is often "easier said than done," isn't it, Libby? At least, that has been my experience many times with women who I have to say "Goodbye" to.

    Thanks for your reply, Libby. Just after my divorce in 1988, I met a very special young woman who I spent a very special year with as "friends", but her insistence that I convert to her church led me to have to painfully having to let her go.       I just read the story of your first evening. What a shame that things couldn't work out between you. That must have been terribly hard to let her go. And I'm sad to hear that she died a few years later.
