John and Jessica

I saw him on my second day at my new job. He smiled at me as I walked into the canteen with my lunch. I blushed & smiled back before finding a table and sitting down to eat. I wished I was the kind of person that was brave enough to sit down at his table and start chatting to him. He had such piercing eyes and a quiff which made him look a little like Tyler James.

I didn't see him at all for the rest of the week despite nervously looking for him when at lunch. I couldn't explain my disappointment when I didn't see him each day. After two weeks I gave up. I was having so much fun in my job and started making friends who I had lunch with. It was summer and we would walk to the local park to sit in the sun at lunchtime. It was a shock when months later I woke up dreaming about him. I was breathless as I sat up in bed. What a crazy dream. He had been flying through the air like a superhero holding me in his arms. Who is this guy, I thought. It took me a whole hour to relax again and fall back asleep so I woke up feeling shattered.

I headed to work and everyone was shocked as to how rough I looked. I wondered if I was coming down with an illness, & quickly applied some lipstick.Everyone was busy that day so I headed down to the canteen to eat lunch myself. And there he was. Shocked I gasped, he was even more beautiful than I remembered. He smiled, and said

"Hi, would you like to join me for lunch"
"Okay" I replied heading over to his table blushing again. Typical!
I sat down, took a sip of my drink and asked him "What's your name?"
"John, what's your name?" he replied.
"I'm Jessica. Have you been on holiday? I haven't seen you for so long" I said with a longing I wish I could have kept hidden.
"Ahh Jessica" he said as if in pain. "I wish I could explain. I came here today just to see you"
"Why?" I responded confused and excited.
"Come with me" he said rising from his chair and grabbing my hand.
I quickly grabbed my bag before going with him. I was terrified but at the same time his hand felt wonderful, just right in my hand. He led me to the roof of the building, then we stopped and he looked at me as if making up his mind.
"Jessica, close your eyes"
"Why??" I responded panicing.
"Please trust me, I won't hurt you" he said, and I believed him but I wasn't sure why. I closed my eyes. He stood closer and hugged me so I put my arms around his waist.
"Don't let go" he said "Open your eyes"
I opened them slowly and then gripped him tighter, we were flying slowly through the air, or more accurately, he was.
"Ahh" I gasped, grabbing hold of him more tightly.
"Haha" he laughed. "Don't worry I won't drop you"
"Where are we going?"
"Somewhere we can talk, just relax, we'll be there soon". So I relaxed in his arms and it felt wonderful, like I was meant to be there. He smelt amazing too, I couldn't stop smelling him, subtley of course!
"We're here" he said about an hour later leading us down to a sandy beach. We sat down, and he held my hand again.
"So who or what are you?" I asked bluntly.
"I'm not from this planet..." he started.
"Carry on"
"...I'm from a planet in the next solar system called Milonian" he paused before continuting "...and so are you"
"Whattttt??" I said shaken, "but I know I'm from Earth, I have, I mean had parents and a whole life"
"You were sent here as a baby and adopted Jessica when Milonian began to come to the end of its life"
"My life was a lie then, is that what you're saying?"
"Not a lie, they were supposed to tell you when you were old enough to understand, but obviously they didn't".
"They both died in a car accident when I was sixteen"
"Sorry to hear that Jessica, I wish they could have told you this"
"Well why are you here?"
"I was sent here too, ten years later. I believe our planet is dead now and we're the only two Milonian's left in existence". He had tears in his eyes as he said this.
"John" Jessica said putting her hand on his arm.
The tears dropped down his cheeks and she automatically pulled him into a hug but as she held him she felt hot all over her body, and felt a desperate urge to kiss him.
"Ahhh" she gasped releasing him.
He obviously felt the same and apologised "Sorry"
"Take me home now please"
"There's more I need to tell you" He said apologetically.
"Tell me" Jessica ordered.
"Like I said, we are the only Milonian's left, I was sent here so that we could reproduce and one day go back to our planet to see if there is any life left or find another planet to populate."
"Ha what a cheek, how dare you make assumptions on my behalf. I won't do this. Earth is my home, the only one I've ever known".
"Milonian is or at least was beautiful. Pale blue skies every day, and flowers everywhere. The scents, I can still remember them. And we all fly there as well as being stronger than men on this planet".
Jessica felt a deep longing to see these things, but she needed time so she commanded John "Take me home, I need to think this over".
"I'm sorry to tell you this but you have one day to decide, that is all, otherwise we have to wait a year and I don't know how many years you have left to reproduce"
"I'm only 25"
"Unfortunately we have less time to reproduce than humans"
"Just take me home now, please"
He took her in his arms and leapt straight into the air, as they flew he looked into her eyes, then kissed her before telling her to sleep. She was fast asleep within minutes. He wondered if she would follow the plan. He was sad to have to give her this news, sad it had taken him so long to find her, so that he didn't have the time to spend with her first, letting her get to know and trust him. The responsibility was heavy on his shoulders, all he wanted was to love her, and cherish her as he had loved her his whole life. It was their destiny to be together. As he reached her home he flew through her bedroom window and she awoke as he laid her on her bed

"I'm home?" she asked.
"Yes, home and safe" he replied. He hugged her quickly and said "See you tomorrow darling".
"Bye" she mumbled as she drifted back to sleep.
She woke up stretched and wandered into the bathroom for a shower. She realised that she had dreamt about John all night. They had been flying together she remembered and then gasped as she remembered all the kissing. She got dressed and then heard a knock on her window. He was hovering outside.
"Can I come in?" he asked.
"Of course" she smiled and as he flew through the window she grabbed him and kissed him.
"Be careful Jess" he told her pushing her gently away."Don't come too close, the bond between us is strong today. I want you to make a rational choice".
She moved back and her head cleared "Let me think then" she said "Go through to the front room and I will let you know if I have any questions"
He smiled proud of the way she was dealing with this "Great".
He watched her pace up and down the hall, chewing her nails, clearly thinking hard. She sometimes stopped asking questions, when she had the answer she started pacing again. She finally stopped late morning and said

"Okay I agree, let's do this"
"Why have you decided that?" he asked.
"Well I can either keep pacing all day or we can hurry up and do this"
"But.."
"But what? You're the one who kidnapped me at work and told me all this"
"I want you to say yes but only if it's the right decision for you. I love you Jessica, I always have".
"I love you too John, but I don't understand why"
"Because we were destined to be together Jessica, but you can forget me...if you want to. Just tell me to go"
"I can't, it's too late...I love you too much John"
"So have you decided?" he gently asked.
"Yes, I have. Let's do this John"
He stood up and moved towards her then, feeling the familiar heat. He kissed her gently at first, then harder before picking her up and carrying her to the bedroom.


Afterwards he said "Thank you, hopefully this is the start of the future of our race".
"I hope so too" Jessica replied.

Epilogue

They fell pregnant and had a little girl who they called Milly. When she was five they headed back hopefully to Milonian. They found that the planet was still alive and there was still a few people living there. They were welcomed back warmly but Jessica was worried about the way they looked at Milly. They settled in well though and Jessica learned to fly, she absolutely loved it! She and John continued to love each other passionately so it was no surprise when they had a son who they named Jacob a couple of years later!
